Alex Trebek’s daughter pays tribute to the “Jeopardy!” host’s cancer announcement

In an Instagram post, Alex Trebek’s daughter Nicky reflected on the pancreatic cancer announcement he made to ‘Jeopardy!’ fans in 2019.

“It was two years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set, that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce that he had been diagnosed with #pancreatic cancer,” Nicky wrote on Saturday, March 7th.

“He brought much needed # awareness of this terrible disease and gave # hope to so many who are struggling,” she continued. “I am proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness.”

The photo she chose to commemorate her late father is one that shows her and Trebek throwing up peace signs while attending a pancreatic cancer action networking event.

Nicky further explained that it “continues what he started” and is a proponent of the charity, which reportedly funds cancer research, provides support to patients and caregivers, conducts community outreach and advocates for increased federal research funding against the disease.

In her own words, Nicky wrote that she “will fight for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer,” and encouraged her followers to donate it to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Nicky’s mail received a red hearing emoji from her stepmother Jean Currivan Trebek (57).

Similarly, she received a gracious remark from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

“Thank you so much for your support in honor of your father, Nicky,” the charity wrote.

The group also has a tribute to the late “Jeopardy!” Uploaded. host in relation to its core announcement.

“Today is the second anniversary of Alex Trebek’s announcement about his #pancreaticcancer diagnosis. In the past two years, he has brought the much-needed awareness of the disease,” Pancreatic Cancer Action Network wrote along with a smiling picture of Trebek. “We honor his legacy by continuing to fight for all those affected by pancreatic cancer.”

Trebek died on November 8 at the age of 80 in four stages of pancreatic cancer.

A year and eight months before his death, Trebek revealed his diagnosis in a life update he had with ‘Jeopardy! ‘viewers.

“I wanted to be the one who passed on this information,” he told his audience at the time. “Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States every year, I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer this week. Normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight it. And I’m going to keep working, and with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers, I also intend to defeat the low survival rate for this disease. ‘
