The NFL honor on Saturday reveals the award winners from 2020. The favorites for some awards are Aaron Rodgers as MVP, Derrick Henry as Offensive Player of the Year, Chase Young as Defensive Rookie of the Year, Justin Herbert as Offensive Rookie of the Year and Kevin Stefanski as coach of the year.
However, it would be a surprise if one of these are unanimous choices, and other candidates for the awards are certainly just as deserving.
The first time is Alex Smith, who is likely to be the unanimous winner of the comeback player of the year. How can anyone reason? In fact, they should name the award after him.
Smith underwent 17 surgeries to save his life and his right leg, and he missed a year of football recordings before an inspiring return in 2020.
The question Smith left behind at the end of the season is: What’s next?
Smith, 36, will be signed until $ 202 million with $ 40 million owed to him over the next two seasons and a $ 24.4 million salary cap for 2021. He has not committed to returning next season.
He joined the Rachael Ray Show this week, however, and it makes it sound as if he is leaning towards a return.
“For me, this year was such a crazy rush to be out there, to exercise out there every day, to put on my cleats and helmet,” Smith said in the show via Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports Washington. ‘But for me the crazy thing was how well my body responded to it. I just feel like I’m getting stronger and stronger and getting better and better. I still feel like I’m a kid who’s out of season right now. . . . I played so nicely. I felt so good out there. It was crazy after the first game how comfortable I felt on the field again. ”
Smith plans to ski and snow this off-season, he said.
“I’m excited for this off-season to see what I can do – football and everything,” Smith said. “I plan to do as much as possible.”
