Alex Colome Agrees with Minnesota Twins

Free agent Alex Colome has agreed to an agreement to join the Minnesota Twins, a source told Jeff Passan, ESPN, on Wednesday.

According to the source, the agreement was guaranteed for one year with a club option and $ 6.25 million. Colome’s base salary for 2021 will be $ 5 million, while his base salary for the option year will be $ 5.5 million.

Colome has spent the past two seasons as the closer for the Chicago White Sox, who picked up Liam Hendriks, who is considered the top, on the free agent market in January.

Colome, 32, has an ERA career of 2.95 and 138 saves over eight seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners and White Sox.

He was named an All-Star in 2016 and finished in the U.S. League 47 in 2017 while at the Rays. He was traded to the Mariners during the 2018 season and then acquired by the White Sox in November 2018. He had one of his best years in 2019, when he converted 30 of 33 rescue chances and 4-5 with a 2.80 ERA.

Colome made his first post-season appearance after the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, with one save in two games and a 0.00-ERA, as the White Sox were eliminated in the AL game card series against the Oakland Athletics.
