Llast week, a Twitter dispute sketch how Hilaria Baldwin, the influential wife of actor (and at one time or another SNL star) Alec Baldwin, committed a “decade-long act where she’s a Spanish person.”
The user, who goes to the handle @lenibriscoe, shared some damning videos of “Hilaria” from a Good morning America appearance where she Use a Spanish accent to a Today shows stop in which she presumably could not remember the English word for “cucumber.”
Further posts showed Hilaria’s mother how she grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and numerous articles indicated how she spent virtually her entire career in medicine in Massachusetts, where she worked as a fellow physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and assistant professor of medicine. Harvard served Medical School ”until, according to MassLive, she“ retired from both positions in 2012 ”. (In a video interview she said she moved to Mallorca, Spain, in 2011, the same year Hilaria started dating Alec.) In an obituary for her grandfather on her father’s side, he said he was an American with his origins in the country that ‘preceded the American Revolution’s A wedding announcement indicated that her grandfather’s first wife (and mother of their children) was from Nebraska.
Hilaria Baldwin’s CAA speaker page claims she was born in Mallorca, Spain, just like her IMDb bio and Wikipedia page. She said on a podcast earlier this year: “I moved here [to America] when I was 19 to go to NYU from … my family lives in Spain, they live in Mallorca, ‘and adds:’ I did not know any pop culture. ‘She has the cover of Hello! magazine, a Spanish language publication from Madrid, where she was identified as a Spanish person in both the interview and his press release. Alec Baldwin has repeatedly referred to online as “Spanish”. And she made a number appearances in Latina magazine, which she enthusiastically promoted (Spain is not part of Latin America, by the way), and has referred to Spain as her ‘home’.
If that wasn’t enough, her five young children with Baldwin all have Spanish names.
It turns out that Hilaria’s real name is Hillary Hayward-Thomas, according to her old MySpace page and the what demand to be her old classmates. She visited the private Cambridge School of Weston, Massachusetts, and listed in her senior yearbook as ‘Hillary Hayward-Thomas’:
A Nexis search has revealed that her registration of voters in New York is under the names “Hilaria L. Baldwin” and “Hillary Hayward-Thomas.”
In light of the Twitter discourse, Hilaria took to Instagram to explain her side of the story. “The first thing I told my husband was that I was born in Boston,” she said. ‘I spent much of my childhood in Spain. My nuclear family lives in Spain and has lived there for a long time. And I came here – I moved around a lot, but when I was 19, I came here to go to university. ”
She continued: ‘I’ve never said my mother was Spanish, my family is a big mix of so many different things … I do not really understand why it’s becoming such a big thing. I want to take it seriously, but I also do not want to apologize all of a sudden, but I apologize for who I am. Because at this point I start to feel that I am being attacked for who I am, and that no answer is the right answer. ”
‘It turns out that Hilaria’s real name is Hillary.”
Alec Baldwin also took to Instagram and in the course of eight winding minutes it seems to deny that the controversy surrounding Hilaria was deserving.
“The majority of what has been said, and – again, I do not want to mention what those things are – is false,” he claimed. ‘And some of it is so spectacularly false … As much as it hurts, the only thing I can do is talk to half the public or part of the public who understand what I mean when I say says: ‘Consider the source. Consider the source. ”
Now there is still the possibility that Hilaria Baldwin spent a lot of time in Spain as a child and that she may have a penchant for Spanish culture, but it does not seem likely that she is Spanish. (Her New York Times wedding announcement says she was “raised in Boston and Spain.”
In a bizarre twist, the first person to apparently shout at Hilaria Baldwin about all this is none other than Genevieve Sabourin, Alec Baldwin’s stalker. In 2012, Sabourin tweeted: “Alec Baldwin wife Hilaria REAL name: Hilary Hayward-Thomas. SONG calls me 911 with her fake name. She was eventually convicted of chasing Alec Baldwin and sentenced to six months in prison.
