Alec Baldwin is done with Twitter after not appreciating the response to his most recent post.

The actor took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 3, to share a video in which he explains that he deleted his Twitter account due to the response to his tweet earlier in the day referring to Gillian Anderson “change of accent.” This follows the scandal surrounding his wife Hilaria Baldwin‘s cultural heritage in light of a Twitter thread that went viral in December.

“Wanted to post a quick video saying I deactivated my Twitter account today,” Alec said in the new footage. He does not mention Gillian by name, but explains about his alleged digging: ‘I just wrote:’ Oh, that’s interesting. ‘And of course, you can do no irony on Twitter – you can no longer do irony in the United States because the United States is like that [an] sincere, stressed place and such an unpleasant place at the moment. ‘

The star pointed out that he is a “big fan” of Gillian and did not intend to offend her.
