Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy Offers Visitors to Free COVID Vaccination

Alaska will give tourism a hold in the arm.

The state will make free COVID vaccines available to visitors arriving at airports from June 1, Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Friday, as part of the Republican’s effort to boost the state’s beleagured tourism industry.

“What we’re telling our tourists is if you come to Alaska … you get a free vaccination, if you want one,” Dunleavy said. ‘When you come in, you want a chance, you visit Alaska, you get a chance. You do not have to pay for it. We will have things set up at the airport and we will help you. ”

The vaccinations will be available at the international airports in Anchorage and Fairbanks and ‘we are in talks with a few other airports’, the governor said.

Alaska apparently has a surplus of vaccines and made them available to all residents more than a month ago. The state reports a total of only 329 COVID deaths since the outbreak began more than a year ago.
