Alabama rises in the rankings after a 30-point victory over LSU

The impact of Alabama’s record set by LSU is being felt this morning as expectations for this team continue to rise.

The Crimson Tide moved up to No. 11 on the NET rankings used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. It was 18th before the beats of LSU on Tuesday in Baton Rouge with 105-75.

It comes in the wake of an eighth consecutive victory for an Alabama program that has not achieved as much in a row since 2002.

Alabama (12-3, 7-0 SEC) climbed as high as number 9 in the CBS Sports version of the RPI.

Ken Pomeroy’s ratings pushed Alabama to number 10 in the minutes following the victory over LSU.

The Tide broke its own SEC record by 23 three-pointers on a single night, unlike what Nate Oats saw.

“No, I’ve never …” Oats said. “It was a little crazy.”

The next place for Alabama is NET No. 93 Mississippi State at 5:00 p.m. CT Saturday at Coleman Coliseum. The Bulldogs are 9-6, 4-3 in the SEC.

The team that achieves the highest rank on Alabama’s remaining schedule is NET 23 Missouri.
