Alabama no. 1 – The Athletic

The 2020 season is in the books. A season that no one was even sure would happen, reached the finish line. The number of matches each team played ranged from postponed seasons to postponed, from deviating starts to canceled matches. College football has not had such a year since World War II.

With Alabama’s victory over Ohio State in the national championship game, it’s time for the final edition of The Athletic 127. In a normal year, pickup games do not represent a season. This is where, as ever, the number of games played and the players selected are taken into account. It was the hardest year to rank and compare teams. With some playing as few as three or four games and others more than ten, it’s really impossible to evaluate some teams properly, but I did my best. Some adjustments were made among teams that also did not play in the post-season.
