Alabama defeated Ohio State 52-24 for its third national championship in the College Football Playoff era.
In a season heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the Crimson Tide were able to get away with the first championship of 2021 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla, and end their season unbeaten.
The win makes it 14 consecutive wins for Alabama. The Crimson Tide has not lost in the SEC Championship game since November 30, 2019.

The first half of the game is about Devonta Smith, wide receiver of Crimson Tide.
Smith had 12 catches for 215 yards with three touchdowns. He missed Ohio State defenders left and right and was seemingly unstoppable.

His night ended early when he was injured on Alabama’s first ride in the third quarter. He left the game and did not return. He appeared on the sidelines late in the fourth quarter in a tracksuit and his hand was completely tied.
Mac Jones has also put together a game for centuries.

Jones was 36-for-45 with 464 passing yards and five passes. He surpasses Joe Burrow’s national championship performance last season. Burrow had 463 passing yards with five passes.
On the ground, Najee Harris had 79 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also had seven catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Slade Bolden got a touchdown in the second half. This was his first collegiate attack.
The state of Ohio fought hard all season, but only came up short.
Justin Fields was beaten all night by the Crimson Tide defense. He finished 17-for-33 with 194 passing yards and a touchdown. He also rushed the team by 67 yards.

Master Teague III raced for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Trey Sermon left early in the game with a labrum injury. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and is not back.

Buckeyes receiver Garrett Wilson got the one-time touchdown. He finishes with three catches for 50 yards. Chris Olave led Ohio State with eight catches for 69 yards.
The Buckeyes ended their season with a Big Ten championship and lost one.
Nick Saban’s legendary university football heritage only grows after the victory. This is Saban’s seventh national championship and sixth as head coach in Alabama. He won one during the 2003 season with LSU and in 2009 won his first with Alabama after returning to college football after a stint at the Miami Dolphins.
Alabama won its first national title during the 2015 season of the College Football Playoff era, beating Clemson 45-40. The team defeated Georgia 26-23 in the only overtime match in the final. This is their 18th title in school history.

The Crimson Tide is likely to lose a lot of key players in the professional ranks. They will try to get back into the title fight in 2021.
