Airline passenger strikes after children kick seat

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman is facing charges after she attacked another woman on a Spirit Airlines flight at Portland International Airport on Sunday because the woman’s children kicked her back seat.

Daydrena Jaslin Walker-Williams took her luggage out of an overhead axle and then punched passenger Nataly Hernandez and left Hernandez with a bleeding lip and bumps on her head, according to a statement likely to be caused.

Walker-Williams said she punched Hernandez in the face 2 to 3 times, according to the charge. She told police she was upset Hernandez’s children kicked her seat back and said she told Hernandez ‘to tell her children to stop,’ reports The Oregonian / OregonLive. She said Hernandez ignored her and later slapped her on the shoulder. ”

Walker-Williams said she did not hit a flight attendant off the shoulder because her ‘first reaction was to fight’, according to the statement. Officials told Walker-Williams that other people on the plane saw her bump into Hernandez, but did not see Hernandez hit her on the shoulder. Walker-Williams’ response according to the affidavit was: “You do what you have to do.”

The Attorney’s Office in Multnomah County District charged Walker-Williams with assault and harassment.
