Airbnb provides administrative assistance to Biden in the distribution of vaccines

Airbnb sent a letter to the Biden administration on Friday to help spread the coronavirus vaccine, especially in rural communities.

The holiday rental company has offered to identify homes that can be used as distribution of vaccines in communities with limited access to health care facilities as the country continues to exist.

“These Airbnb ‘vaccines’ may be available in places where there are no healthcare facilities or pharmacies, so-called ‘healthcare deserts’,” wrote Christopher Lehane, senior vice president for global policy and communications, in the letter.

In addition, the company offered to house workers traveling to distribute vaccines if they needed housing support.

The letter does not specify whether the Airbnb “vaccine depots” or houses used to offer workers who distribute the vaccine are offered free or discounted prices.

A White House spokesman was not immediately available for comment in response to Airbnb’s letter.

The offer follows Airbnb’s efforts launched under the Frontline Stays program last year to allow hosts to open their homes to health workers in the foreground in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The program allows health workers to stay closer to their jobs at Airbnb sites and remove from family members in their own homes for free or discounts.

President Biden on Thursday unveiled his strategy to address the coronavirus pandemic. The plan aims to vaccinate 100 million Americans within its first 100 days in office.

Amazon sent a letter to Biden on his first day in office earlier this week in which he was also offered to help the new administration distribute the coronavirus vaccine. The e-commerce giant offered to help by leveraging Amazon’s operations, information technology and communication capabilities

Amazon has again called on the government to prioritize the company’s essential workers in warehouse facilities and data centers in the deployment of vaccines.
