Aggressive coati were sought after to make physical contact with hikers in Sabino Canyon

TUCSON (KVOA) – A Coatimundi is wanted after it allegedly showed signs of aggression in the Sabino Canyon recreation area on Thursday.

According to Arizona Game and Fish Department officials, three hikers encountered the koati near Sabino Dam and the Cactus Picnic Area on Thursday.

AZGFD said two of them made physical contact with the aggressive animal.

Officials believe the koati is used to people and was probably fed illegally.

The department reminds residents that coats are predators and can be potentially dangerous.
