After the pandemic, he decided to knock on random mansions and ask, “What do you have to live on?” — now, his TikTok account is up

It seems like every town has it. Those gilded neighborhoods with impossible massive houses, a series of luxury cars, giant plots, etc. But how? How do so many people have so much money?

This is the question that Aaron Vankampen, a freelance scout in Toronto, has been asking homeowners for months. The answers he received provided a lot of fodder for his TikTok account, which has blown up since he posted Part 1 in early November:

“Before that, I worked as a location explorer as well as a bartender,” Vankampen explained to MarketWatch. ‘The pandemic hit and I got a lot of free time. I was looking for something to do with that time. ”

So he lets his curiosity be his guideline, and he starts wandering around the local luxury neighborhoods asking questions. His most viewed TikTok, which includes attorneys, Teslas TSLA
+ 1.57%
and a ‘dream worker’ was clicked 35 million times:

Vankampen’s rise to TikTok fame was meteoric, with more than 1 million followers in less than two months. As their reactions indicate, the interviews were generally friendly and comfortable when approached from door to door by the TikToker.

He did say that the strange issue arose. For example, he was chased away from a property by a guard dog. “I learned and will never approach a house with a dog watch,” he said.

In the next phase of its social media plans, Vankampen wants to push its reach beyond Toronto as soon as travel restrictions are eased and homes around the world are visited. Would he receive the same warm welcome in New York, for example, as in Canada? We might find out one day.

Meanwhile, he is also launching his YouTube channel, with a view to expanding on the interviews without the TikTok time constraints, and ideally he earns money in the process.

“My plan is to continue to stay inspiring, if I can find a way to make money while still inspiring my fans, then I will do it,” he said.
