Nintendo is known for making surprises, but very few would be able to predict this announcement. After three decades of Japanese exclusivity, Nintendo finally releases Famicom Detective Club: the missing heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Behind in the west. As the names suggest, it was originally released on the Famicom, better known as the NES for Western audiences.
Confirmed by Direct’s today, Nintendo released this PR statement shortly thereafter:
Famicom detective club: the missing heir / Famicom detective club: the girl behind: two Nintendo deep tracks from Japan come to Europe for the first time, localized with English text and completely modernized for Nintendo Switch. Twists, turns and drama await on every corner in both of these exciting games. Discover the deadly truth in Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, coming to Nintendo eShop on May 14 as a bundle. Pre-orders for the games are now starting in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch.
Both games are being developed by Mages, which was announced earlier in 2019. The original 8-bit adventures will be faithfully recreated, and both will arrive on May 14 for the Switch eShop, available separately or bundled together.
