Although the breaking point for Deshaun Watson came when the Texas did not keep him in the running of their hire during the season, he shared his frustration with coaches and management after last year DeAndre Hopkins trade. Toe-Texans GM Bill O’Brien has assured Watson, according to Mike Sando, Aaron Reiss and Jason Jenks of The Athletic (entry required), that he will stay abreast of the big picture decisions going forward. Watson, who expressed concern after the Hopkins exchange, also led to the trade clause in his expansion of Texans. The quarter, however, became further disillusioned with the franchise as the regular season progressed. After the loss of the Texans piled up and Cal McNair O’Brien fired, Watson questioned the direction of the team, according to The Athletic. Shortly before Watson signed his extension, he said he “loved” McNairs, the organization and Houston. The Texans have insisted they are not interested in trading Watson, but several teams are interested. And the three-time Pro Bowler showed no indication that he would retire.

Here is the latest from the AFC South:

  • Watson’s longtime teammate, JJ Watt, is on the market for a week. He has been linked with a number of teams, including the Titans. Na GM Jon Robinson confirms the team spoke to Watt, Mike Vrabel – Watt’s former defense coordinator in Houston – addressed the possibility of a signing. ‘You mentioned JJ Watt, and there will be other veteran players available that we will talk about, and we talked about JJ Watt., ”Vrabel said during a conversation with season ticket holders. ‘… There are many things to bring in freelancers, certainly things that are older than thirty or in the latter half of their careers. Vrabel was the Texans’ lineout coach from 2014-16 and DC in 2017. The Titans sign the former Vrabel charge Jadeveon Clowney last year, but he is on track for free agency. And the passion rush of Tennessee still needs to be stepped up.
  • Although Matthew Stafford considering the Colts a possibility during his time in the trade block, Indianapolis did not host his first round for the 12-year-old Detroit appetizer. Washington and Carolina offer first-class and change, while the Rams won with their monster proposal. However, the Colts were a little worried about the 33-year-old quarterback’s level of play, and whether it would eventually be worth a big trade package, says Stephen Holder of The Athletic. Frank Reichhistory with Carson Wentz undoubtedly played a key role in the Colts to risk the Eagles’ popular appetizer, and the team eventually retained the first and second rounds of 2021.
  • The Texas adopts former Lions character coach Dylan Thompson for a similar role, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle tweets. A former UDFA quarterback who moved to an NFL role off the field, Thompson is a friend of the adapted VP in Texas. Jack Easterby‘s, says Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. His relationship with Easterby led to his work in Detroit and previously with the Charleston Southern basketball program.
