Adriano Moraes hits ‘Mighty Mouse’

ONE flyweight champion, Adriano Moraes (19-3), became the first man to ever claim victory over former UFC champion Demetrious Johnson (30-4-1). I.

The match served as the main MMA match of Wednesday’s event, which took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and was broadcast live on TNT in the USA.

The taller Moraes stayed on the outside early and constantly moved sideways, forcing Johnson to try the action from a distance. Moraes finally caught a kick from his opponent and then landed on the canvas and tried to threaten the leg. While Moraes was unable to complete the submission, the ensuing scramble saw him move to the highest position, where he completed the round.

Moraes remained mobile in the second moment, with Johnson seamlessly changing position and wanting to push. The aggression was impressive, but it would backfire, with Moraes sneaking in a sharp two-stroke combination against an emerging opponent who caused him to crash to the floor. Moraes took advantage of an astonishing opponent, hit a legitimate knee for an enemy and won with the 2:24 point of the second frame.

ONE championship run-off for the first time in the US started off quite frustrating, with Eddie Alvarez (10-8) disqualified in the first round of his lightweight match with Iuri Lapicus (15-1).

After a short tussle with the defender, Alvarez finally tucked the ball home. Sitting near the cage and with his opponent in a dominant position, Lapicus turns his face to the fence and only exposes the back of his head. Alvarez throws a few right hands that end up at the bottom of the skull – and Lapicus screams out before falling back on the canvas.

Referee Justin Brown immediately intervened when Alvarez turned to hammering away. After a brief moment of confusion, Brown gave Alvarez a red card.

After the call was made, a clearly emotional Alvarez said he believed the blows were legal, but apologized for the offense and expressed concern about his opponent’s well-being while being sent away in a stretcher .

“You’re putting me in a cage,” Alvarez said. “The referee, he’s in there. Whatever he calls, that’s it. I apologize. I hope Iuri is doing well. ”

Alvarez, a former UFC and Bellator champion, has now won just one victory in three ONE championship events.

In the opening match of the evening, Oumar Kane (3-0), better known as ‘Reug Reug’, kept the heavyweight prospect, and kept his perfect career record impeccable by kickboxer Patrick Schmid (0-1).

Kane was patient to open the match, but eventually swarmed with blows and worked his way inside before taking the action to the floor. Schmid struggled to get back on his feet while Kane tapped with blows, and the fight was swung down at the 1:48 mark of the opening round.
