Adobe adds easy collaboration, asynchronous editing to Photoshop

Adobe relies a little more on the benefits of a cloud-based architecture with the implementation of easy collaboration and asynchronous editing in Photoshop, Illustrator and Fresco. The “Invite to edit” button is available from today.

The update enables asynchronous editing on all supported surfaces (iPad, iPhone and desktop) via the newly added Invitation button to edit on the taskbar of the application in the top right corner. Although it is not possible for several people to edit a document at the same time, it makes collaboration much easier.

After updating Photoshop to the latest version, you will first be prompted to edit the Invitation to Edit button in the cloud, which will give you and others access to all devices.

The following screen asks you to save the document and will also display any other cloud documents you have. Once the file is uploaded, it’s just as easy to add a collaborator as it is to invite it by email.

An interesting side effect of using this feature is that any file you save as a cloud document does not look like you can easily save it on your machine. The “Save As” feature appears in a window other than the typical window and does not seem to be an easy way to save a version to a local machine.

In addition to the collaboration feature, Adobe has also added Preset Sync in Photoshop to the desktop, allowing you to sync brushes, swatches, gradients, patterns, styles and shapes from your Adobe Creative Cloud account to the desktop you currently have.

The addition of these features is now available via an update of the Creative Cloud app on the desktop and through an app update on iPad and iOS.
