Adam Erne of Red Wings goes down hard after a fight with Barclay Goodrow of Lightning

Detroit Red Wings forward Adam Erne slammed Thursday night’s win over Tampa Bay after dropping gloves along with Lightning forward Barclay Goodrow.

Goodrow checked Erne on the boards late in the second period with the Red Wings leading by two goals, leading Erne to lose his stick after throwing it at Goodrow’s skate.

Goodrow ran away, but not before trying to drive Erne away.

The pair exchange a few blows, but Goodrow connects to Erne’s jaw and drops him to the ground.

Goodrow seems to be holding Erne’s jersey, preventing his head from hitting the floor.

Both were considered key penalty targets and Erne was seen by trainers in the locker room.

The hometown of Wings won the visiting Stanley Cup championship to win 6-4 after losing four in a row, including the previous game in overtime against the Lightning.

“Taking three of four points against the Stanley Cup champions is a pretty good result for this group,” defender Troy Stecher said after scoring his first goal in his 20th game for last-place Red Wings.

Detroit resumes its home field in six games Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes, who won seven straight to rise to first place in the Central Division.
