It’s an expensive affair to keep up with every streaming service, but Hulu is offering American college students a special discount plan at $ 2 a month. Normally, Hulu’s ad-supported plan costs $ 5.99 per month. The new student plan, which is an evergreen offering and will apply for the same price as long as students can verify their continued enrollment, offers more than 65 percent off. Students can now sign up for the offer.
Hulu has done such presentations for general subscribers (not just university students) in the past, but these have been limited time offers. In Hulu’s Black Friday sale, for example, the cost dropped to $ 2 a month for an entire year. However, this is all for ad-supported plans. Hulu’s ad-free plan remains much more expensive, costing $ 11.99 a month and putting it on the same price rack as Netflix ($ 13.99 a month for its most popular plan) and HBO Max ($ 14.99 a month).
For college students who are just looking for new FX shows on Hulu or watching bad reality TV or procedural drama marathons, this is quite a good deal. Hulu now also allows people to participate in viewing parties, enabling subscribers to watch programs and movies together while apart. The only downside (besides handling ads) is that Hulu’s discount level cannot allow offline, so you should not expect episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale on the way.
