Activision Yanks Crossbow It was accidentally released early, even after players grinded time for it

What Call of Duty give, Call of Duty take away. Yesterday, a flashy new crossbow came into effect Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War by accident, and now players who have been trying to unlock for hours frustrated that Activision took it out of the game again.

As Eurogamer reports, players have the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow in the War zone buy yesterday, March 18, which was strange because it was not officially mentioned in the latest notes. Players who decided to buy it anyway could not use it War zone but could take it out and start shooting people with it Black Ops Cold Warse multiplayer. Others have discovered it can be unlocked for free by completing a challenge which required them to win three one-off medals in 15 matches. And so they did for a few hours until Activision finally realized it had made a mistake and pulled it back.

The crossbow was especially powerful in the zombie mode of the game.

An issue with the R1 Shadowhunter weapon appeared earlier than planned in War zone and Black Ops Cold War has been resolved, ”the company tweeted from his support account. “Refunds are planned for players who purchased the bundle while it was available in the store, and the bundle and in-game challenge will return later.”

Tweet comments were, of course, eliminated, but that did not stop players from expressing their frustration elsewhere. “Rippa to all the people who cut their ass for the weapon,” one person wrote in a quote tweet. Others fled on the game’s subreddit. It would be one thing if the crossbow was only temporarily eliminated until it was ready (some players reported that the attachments were a bit sparse) but a community manager for Treyarch confirmed on Twitter the unlocking progress for the weapon will be restored for everyone, even if it is brought back into play. Black Ops Cold War is, however, a militarized world of Activision, and it can always decide to unlock the weapon for free if it wants to.

The publisher did not immediately respond to a request for comment on when the R1 Shadowhunter will officially return.
