Accumulating snow on the way

DETROITGood Monday morning!

Today’s sunrise was at 06:46

A cold front – the leading edge of a much colder air mass – will approach our area later today. In front of the front, the morning sun will increase the noon to almost 60 degrees. Temperatures will begin to drop during the afternoon in the western part of our area, reaching the low to mid-60s in the east. Scattered light rain showers will also develop in front this afternoon. The southwest wind of 10 to 20 km / h will move to the west after the front is over.

Monday’s sunset is at 20:20

Showers will end after the main course, so we will be dry on Monday night and the temperature will drop to Tuesday morning in the mid-30s. Northwesterly winds are blowing at 5 to 10 mph.

We start our Tuesday dry, then light rain and possibly some wet snow will develop during the afternoon. Highs will only reach the low to mid 40s.

Solar radiation (even at the clouds) will accumulate snow on Tuesday during daylight. However, once we cool the radiation and temperature on Tuesday night, we will switch all snow, and it can sometimes become moderate to heavy. Remember that snow can occur very quickly on grass and elevated surfaces, such as decks, patio furniture and barbecues, but will initially melt on the sidewalk as the surface temperature is well above freezing. Over time, snow will cool the sidewalk and a sloppy accumulation will begin.

There are still some major differences in the computer models, but I think I can handle it fairly well: the heaviest snow will fall over the southeastern half of the area, with between 3 and 5 centimeters of snow expected on high surfaces. We will not see much on the sidewalk, but it will still be messed up later Tuesday night. In the northwestern part of the area, the snow will decrease rapidly the further northwest you go, with areas from Sanilac County to Lansing receiving very little snow.

Another important part of Tuesday night’s forecast is that low temperatures will drop to almost 30 degrees. As I warned a few weeks ago, early spring can feel hot, but the growing season starts too early, which can be affected later. And that’s what we’ll get Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

Wednesday itself starts mostly cloudy and then becomes partly cloudy with highs in the mid 40’s. It will be mostly clear on Wednesday night, with lows in the mid to above 20s.

Thursday mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with a peak in the low to mid 50s. It will be mostly clear on Thursday night, with lows in the mid-30s.

On Friday it will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with a peak in the low 60s.

Saturday will start dry, and then rain may develop during the afternoon. The highs are near 60 degrees.

It will be partly cloudy on Sunday, with a high of close to 60 degrees.
