Go on, Jets fans. Dream big – Deshaun Watson big.
According to the disgruntled Pro Bowl fullback, the Jets were followed by rival Dolphins according to its Miami wish list, according to the Miami Herald.
Watson, a 25-year-old star, has become disillusioned for the Texans and possesses a no-trade clause, which may give him over his next stop. The Miami Herald reports Watson is delighted with new Jets coach Robert Saleh, and wants the Texans to target the former 49ers defense coordinator for their vacant head coaching position.
Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be upset about the Texans, because after initially being promised that he would be part of their appointment process for their new general manager, his input was mostly ignored. The team eventually hired Nick Caserio, former Patriots CEO. Watson was also angry last year when the Texans swapped his leading target, DeAndre Hopkins, for the Cardinals.
49ers cornerback Richard Sherman welcomed Saleh’s hiring with the Jets and told Watson he should push the Texans to trade him there.
“I’ll be moving to New York from there as soon as possible,” Sherman said recently on the Cris Collinsworth podcast.
This report is the latest example of Watson’s potential desire to play for the Jets. The Texans star’s official Instagram account likes a photo from The Post’s back page on Monday that says the Jets need to do ‘Whatever It Takes’ to get the quarterback.
Watson has also been in the area and attended a Brooklyn Nets game last week. He’s apparently friendly with Kevin Durant.
The Jets got the chance to draft Watson out of Clemson in 2017, but Jamal Adams took safety at number 6 instead. Watson dropped to No. 12 as far as the Texans.
