Abraham Ancer finishes the first round of the Masters on Thursday with 53, but does not feel well after learning that he is being penalized for a seemingly harmless shot.
Ancer said he was going to receive a double penalty for hitting the sand in his backhand while hitting hole no. 15 wanted to complete.

“I was just told I got a 2-stroke penalty for inadvertently grazing the sand in my back swing on hole 15. While I’m full of holes, I can not wait to get it tomorrow,” he tweeted.
Ancer tweeted a video showing his club hitting the sand during his swing. It looks like he was surrounded by sand at the time of the swing, making it almost impossible for him not to hit it.
According to Golf.com, the Augusta National Competition Committee has released a statement on Ancer’s infringement.
“After Mr Ancer signed his scorecard and left the standings, video evidence was reviewed by the committee regarding the possible breach of rule 12.2b (1), which stipulates that the touch of sand in a bunker right behind the ball a penalty goal, “officials said.
“The touch of the sand is considered visible to the naked eye. If this were not the case, the video evidence would be disregarded and a penalty would not be applied.”

Ancer initially closed out the round with one stroke over the par, but the penalty kick put him back on three strokes above par.
