Abigail Breslin announced on Friday that her father had died of COVID-19, just two weeks after she urged fans to wear face masks.

Breslin, 24, shared a series of throwback photos of her father with a lengthy statement in which she remembered him as “perfect, wonderful, heroic” and shared moving anecdotes about his life.

“Oh woe. Hard to write it. Harder than I thought. I was shocked and devastated,” Breslin’s statement began.

“At 18:32 EST my sweet, perfect, wonderful, heroic, wonderful dada passed away after me and my family said goodbye. It was COVID-19 that cut short my sweet dad’s life. I appreciate more than you know “The love and support my family and I received. I mostly want to remember my father for who he was,” said the “Zombieland” actress.

She further described her father as a ‘hilarious, noisy, stubborn, rebellious, intelligent, sweet, incredible human leg’ who ‘loved life’.

The actress also revealed the nickname “abba dabba” that her father would call her. She said the two both have a love for animals.

Breslin’s announcement of her father’s death comes just two weeks after she revealed on Instagram that the deadly virus had been diagnosed in him.
