Abbott signs order to restrict coronavirus vaccination mandates and passports

AUSTIN, Texas Texas Government Greg Abbott on Monday signed an executive order restricting the ability to obtain coronavirus vaccinations and so-called vaccination passports.

According to the order, no government entity can require anyone to receive a COVID-19 survey. Government agencies are also prohibited from requiring people to provide proof of a vaccination as a condition of receiving a service or entering a place. The order also applies to any public or private entity that receives public or ‘partial’ funds.

The proof of vaccination does not apply to nursing homes, state-aided life centers, assistance facilities or long-term care facilities. These places may still require a resident to provide proof of their vaccination status.

In a tweet, Abbott said the order was intended to protect a person’s personal health information and personal freedoms.

“The government should not require a Texan to provide evidence of vaccination and disclose private health information to perform their daily lives,” Abbott said. ‘That’s why I issued an executive order banning the government’s mandate for vaccines in Texas. We will continue to vaccinate more Texans and protect public health – and we will do so without compromising the freedom of Texans. ”
