Aaliyah’s mother says singer and DMX will meet again

After almost 20 years, Aaliyah and DMX can meet again now, her mother Diane Haughton says in a touching tribute to her deceased daughter’s friend after his recent death.

The rapper, who starred alongside the R&B singer in the 2000 film Romeo must die, with her on a single track for his soundtrack and her famous honor in her 2002 posthumous video, “Miss You”, passed away on Friday, April 9, at the age of 50. DMX, born Earl Simmons, was admitted to hospital days after a heart attack.

“Earl you have and still have a heart of gold,” Diane wrote on Aaliyah’s Instagram page. “You and Baby Girl will meet again with all the beautiful people we have lost. Will never forget your kindness. NEVER! Bless your family! Forever! – Aaliyah’s mother.”

DMX is the first and last person to appear in the music video for Aaliyah’s song “Miss You”, a year after she died at the age of 22 in a plane crash in August 2001. The track went viral amid of the news of his death, begins with him delivering a moving speech in honor of the singer.
