DC evening clock is now in effect until 06:00
Officials in DC and Virginia pronounced the evening bell for residents after Trump’s protests at the Capitol escalated into riots with protesters storming the building and firing shots at the house floor.
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) – A woman shot dead in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday has died, DC police confirmed to FOX 5. This comes after pro-Trump protesters charged the building when Congress began counting the votes of the Electoral College.

The shooting was reported shortly after 3pm as the situation inside and outside the Capitol escalated.
The victim was later identified as Ashli Babbit, from San Diego.
Her mother-in-law told Lindsay Watts of FOX 5, “I really do not know why she decided to do that.”
Babbit is a 14-year veteran of the Air Force, Watts reports.

Robert Contee, DC police chief, also says several MPD officers have been injured but are still helping to take control of the Capitol.
Contee also says protesters deployed “chemical irritants on police” to gain access to the Capitol.
