Resident David Gray told local station WPSD-TV that the lake is a ‘very quiet area’ and that the incident worried the community.
“A lot of hunters come in here and they enjoy duck hunting and all, but to be upset about someone shooting more ducks, or whatever the case was, I don’t know,” Gray said.
Reelfoot Lake is more than 15,000 acres in size and is a flooded forest that is part of Reelfoot Lake State Park, located in the northwest corner of the state. According to Tennessee State Parks, the park is known for activities such as fishing, boating, game viewing and camping.
Investigators have asked anyone with information about Vowell’s location to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
