A plumber in New Jersey drove with his family to Texas to repair cracked pipes and other damage caused by the devastating winter storm

Andrew Mitchell and his wife, Kisha Pinnock, decided to take the 22-hour drive from Morristown with their 2-year-old son Blake after hearing that local plumbers were overwhelmed by calls and that some customers could not get help for weeks. not. Isaiah Pinnock, who is Kisha’s brother and Mitchell’s student, went with them.

Before leaving New Jersey, they bought as many plumbing supplies as they could afford, Pinnock said – because the items are currently difficult in Texas.

The group arrived in Houston, Texas, on Sunday afternoon. Pinnock’s sister, who lives in Houston, connected them with several people who wanted to hire plumbers. They quickly enlisted the services of Mitchell’s Plumbing & Heating.

“By the time we got here, there were already about four or five posts of my sister in line, and we only hit the first time and then everything after that only had referrals like the initial customers, like their friends and family, “said Pinnock, who is a lawyer. “Since we were here, it’s really uninterrupted.”

Pinnock said her husband and brother have done about 13 jobs since their arrival, and that they plan full days for Wednesday and Thursday.

Among the customers was Dedrick Dock, of Spring, Texas. He told CNN he was trying to get at least 15 plumbers out of his house before hearing on social media from a friend’s neighbor of Mitchell’s Plumbing & Heating.

Dock and his family stayed with family members for more than a week due to a broken pipe in the garage.

“We had to move for more than a week because we had to find someone there,” he said. “And of course, with the plumbers here, they were already overwhelmed with the work that was going on.”

The group planned to return home next week, but has now said they will stay for about two weeks because they have received so many calls from people who need their help.

“I think we definitely made a difference,” Pinnock said.
