A PlayStation Network Interruption Affects Certain Games

Just a day after a major Xbox Live outage, Sony’s PlayStation Network has been experiencing issues for several hours. The problem for this is a bit different, and based on reports can only affect certain games. Sony’s PSN status page states that ‘you are having trouble launching games, applications or network features’ on platforms including the PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5.

Some people have difficulty playing online Call of Duty: Warzone or Minecraft, while other games such as Fortnite appears to be accessible. When I tried to access some games on my PS5, Val guys worked, but Call of Duty and Destruction of AllStars could not join matchmaking. According to the service status page, this issue started around 18:33 ET, but online gamers noticed problems a few hours earlier and a look at DownDetector shows that the problems have been rising since 13:00 ET. At least in this case, it seems like most people do not have to go offline to try and play their games, and that they might just have to switch from title until it’s resolved.

Affected Platforms: PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5 Affected Services: You may experience problems launching games, applications, or networking features. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
