A new Star Wars multiplayer arena game is coming to Nintendo Switch. Star Wars: Hunters was released during the Nintendo Direct stream in February, and it’s free to play when it’s released later this year.
Nintendo’s announcement trailer did not reveal much about the game other than its name. The trailer looks like it’s taking place on a sandy planet – possibly Tatooine? – in a hidden arena designed for some kind of illegal transactions or fights. As the camera follows through the hallway, we see a character holding light sabers, a stormtrooper and a Wookie. Eventually, the camera stops at a giant door that opens to reveal a smoky battlefield full of light sores and laser fire.
According to the YouTube description of the announcement, Star Wars: Hunters will be a free-to-play arena-based arena fighting game – probably seen at the end of the trailer. Based on the logo at the end of the trailer, it looks like the game was developed by Zynga, the developer best known for social games such as Farmville.
Star Wars: Hunters does not yet have a fixed release date, but is scheduled to appear later this year, so we’ll need to get more information soon. According to the game’s website, it will also come with iOS and Android along with Switch.
