A man from Defiance spends a commemoration after a coma in a coma more than 87 km away

DEFIANCE, Ohio (WTVG) – VIP nails have been a major staple in downtown for over 20 years. The nail salon is best known for its husband and wife owners, Victor and Mylinh Pham.

“They complement each other, they’re ideal for each other,” said VIP client and Pham family friend Konnie Meyer. “They are each other’s yin and yang, I think you would say.”

“Their love story is incredible. I dream of a love story like that,” said VIP client and Pham family friend Katrina King. “If I can not have a love like Victor and Mylinh, I do not want to love at all.”

Victor and Mylinh met in California after Victor left his home in Vietnam with only the clothes on his back. Now the two have a life together here in Defiance, where they say they spend every day on their faith and love for each other.

“My wife means the whole world to me. God and Jesus first my wife, ”said Victor Pham. “She’s my number one person.”

Mylinh spent time with family on Christmas Eve with a headache. Mylinh dies on their bathroom floor and does not wake up and suffers from a double brain aneurysm.

“I was just crying and chatting,” Victor said. “I did not know what to do, my wife does everything for me, everything.”

Mylinh was airlifted to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she is still fighting for her life.

Today is Mylinh and Victor’s 16th wedding anniversary.

“He celebrates their anniversary in the best way he knows,” Konnie Meyer said. “Right now he feels the power of God behind him and feels he needs to do something.”

Victor decided that something would walk 87.9 miles, from Defiance to Ann Arbor.

“I think a lot about my wife,” Victor said. “Like in a hospital, she’s in a coma.”

Victor is only admitted to the hospital with his wife for one hour due to COVID restrictions. Victor says he walks to make his time count, praying every time for his wife’s recovery.

‘Anyone who knows them knows that Victor likes Lynn. “Victor likes Lynn more than life itself,” said Katrina King. “He believes she will get it right, and we all do.”

Victor began his walk at 8 a.m. Friday morning to see his wife. Victor has no timetable for when he will arrive at the hospital on foot. Victor has the support of his family and friends who offer overnight stays, food and heat sources during his trip.

“I know God will bring my wife,” Victor said. “She will wake up, she will come home, not have a normal life, but my wife and I will have a wonderful life.”
