A leaked trailer from Elden Ring makes fans wave

Oh, Elden Ring. Maybe you were not a collective hallucination after all. Leaked footage of what is believed to be a trailer for FromSoftware’s norse-y RPG circulated today. Despite the filming of a roll of adhesive tape, the fans are excited. There has been almost no official word on Elden Ring since it was announced at E3 in 2019, so a supposed new trailer is unexpected reason for the celebration on the Elden Ring subreddit.

This is not the preview leaked. This is the official one from 2019. You can probably still see the leaked one walking around.

As always, take leaks with a dose of salt. This definitely fits in with what you would expect from a new FromSoftware connection. It really is a textbook. There’s almost nothing in this vague video that no one would have expected after another From game. A fist full of arrows thrown on a plate called “Souls series of staples” would have made the same cuts.

There are people in metal helmets who stab skeletons, carry flaming swords and dodge. Some throw out magic that looks very familiar. The one fights against a clumsy, multi-legged creature. Others fight with giant bosses. A dragon inhales fire. Just as cryptic as the original revealing preview, the voice says, “I can only imagine what drives you to seek the Elden Ring. I assume you can not speak to turn back … Very well then! ”

As if even the leak could not spoil the whole surprise, the video ends just before where you would expect a release date to be announced if it was included in this particular trailer.

If you’ve been hoping for tips on what’s going to be new in Elden Ring, there’s not much to sign up for. It does seem like there is horse fighting, which actually looks neat and – oh, oops.

I was going to have a little fun with people who get excited about pieces of information, but shit, now I’m just a little excited too. I’m also looking forward to straying from From’s next sword and magic adventure. Humanity is recovering, I suppose.

If it’s a legitimate trailer, it’s still unclear where and when we’ll probably see it properly. Xbox denied the rumor that they might disclose Elden Ring’s details in March. We do know that Phil Spencer, Xbox boss, played it.
