A Kansas woman was arrested last week after she called her daughter to say she was shot in an April Fool’s joke.
“Several police units, probably between 15 and 20 Wichita police officers, as well as a fire department and EMS, responded to the scene,” Wichita police lieutenant Ronald Hunt said after the girl called 911. to report the ‘shooting’. it was a gag.
Authorities showed up to surround the Wichita house and cordoned off nearby streets. Officers pulled with guns, then broke down the door when no one responded, Hunt said. The house was empty.
The woman, identified as Arnthia Willis, 58, was at work at the time. She was arrested Thursday on the grounds of illegal requests for emergency service assistance, police said.
