A cure for Covid? Israeli team claims new medicine achieves 96% success

Researchers from the largest hospital in Tel Aviv, Ichilov, report what could be a major game changer in the fight against the Covid-19 virus – a drug that cures coronary patients with a success rate of 96 percent.

Thirty patients suffering from moderate or severe levels of Corona received the new EXO-CD24 drug, developed by Professor Nadir Arber of the Ichilov Center for Cancer Prevention. Only one patient did not respond: 29 others showed a marked improvement within two days of taking the new drug.

Professor Arber says the treatment is effective and inexpensive.

The medicine is administered once a day by inhalation in a procedure that lasts only a few minutes, for five days, ‘he said.

The 29 who improved after taking the drug were able to leave the hospital between three and five days later.

Now, says Ronni Gamzu, the former coronavirus ‘tsar’, who has returned to his role as CEO of Ichilov, that he will personally help Professor Arber get the green light from the Israeli Ministry of Health to take the medicine to a wider pool patients.

He said: “I am proud that we here at Ichilov are one of the world leaders in finding the cure for this terrible epidemic.”

A similar treatment was announced by the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. During their trial, 21 patients in a critical condition – who had underlying health conditions – received a drug called Allocetra. According to the doctors, 19 patients recovered within six days and were discharged from the hospital on average after eight days.

The remedy was developed by Professor Dror Mevorach. director of Hadassah’s research center for rheumatology and internal medicine.
