Bucky Brooks recently said he does not consider Mac Jones a top three talent in this year’s draft class. In fact, he does not consider the former Alabama full-back a first-round talent, so it’s hard to imagine the San Francisco 49ers spending four concepts, including three firsts, to move up to acquire him.
Media chats painted a curious picture after the 49ers traded to No. 3 spot on March 26th. Because of the history of quarterbacks Shanahan has worked with, speculation has skyrocketed and Jones has been linked with the 49ers.
The story has changed a bit since Justin Fields of Ohio State held his second pro day this week. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch were in attendance, and Fields is now the favorite to succeed Jimmy Garoppolo in Santa Clara.
Nucky Media analyst Bucky Brooks spoke at the Rich Iron Show discuss today and discuss the 49ers options with their best choice. With several ridiculous concepts still portraying a Jones-to-Niners scenario on April 29, Eisen asks Brooks who he believes will be the choice.
“Justin Fields or Trey Lance,” Brooks replied. “I think the conversation about Mac Jones is just a conversation. I think if you’re Kyle Shanahan, and you’re moving on, you’re moving on to get some remarkable talent. the things you want to do on the text but do not.
‘Because at the end of the day, what you do is you have to compare your quarterback with the other quarterbacks in the division. And to be honest, Rich, the NFC has West Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Matthew Stafford. In any scenario, do we consider Mac Jones to be the player who could be better than one of the guys in the next two to three years? Because if we do not do that, we must not make a move for him.
‘But if we think about the extraordinary talents of the other two (Fields and Lance) mentioned, we can see how their athleticism and a combination of poor talent can give them the opportunity to succeed and some of the guys in the section to surpass. I think it must be one of the other two guys, and I believe Mac Jones is just a smokescreen. ‘
Brooks went on to break down Lance’s skills and NFL potential. You can watch and listen to the entire segment below.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper does not belong to the segment of national writers who are a little behind the story that Mac Jones, the former quarterback of Alabama, went to the San Francisco 49ers at no. 3 is an almost lock. The analyst let Jones go to the Niners in his latest spot and later at ESPN’s Get Up! to discuss the projection. Trevor Lawrence is expected to land with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Zach Wilson with the New York Jets and Jones is expected to join San Francisco, Get Up! Mike Greenberg, host, asked Kiper if he considered the first three choices in the draft this year as a lock. “I think it’s a lock now,” Kiper replied. “And

Mac Jones. It’s a name that divides the San Francisco 49ers fanbase. The former Alabama full-back is being touted as a lock for the Niners, which is the No. 3 overall draft, and Al and Zain are not happy about it. The duo discuss the following: What do you make of all the Jones-to-49ers speculations? The lack of evidence to support it. Why Garoppolo who returns can become a circus? The San Francisco 49ers selected former quarterback Mac Jones in Alabama with the No. 3 overall pick. However, this one from ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum is a little different. While some analysts believe Jones-to-49ers is the most likely scenario, many believe the choice will be an achievement, especially with the possibility that Justin Fields and Trey Lance are likely to remain in management. The latest mockery of ESPN has Tannenbaum, a former NFL executive, playing the role of general manager for all 32 teams and choosing the players he thinks are best suited

Neither Lynch nor Shanahan asked Nick Saban about Mac Jones’ potential 49ers pick on the pro day

Put it under interesting omens. San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan were at Alabama’s pro day last week. It made headlines because the duo chose to watch quarterback Mac Jones rather than attend Ohio State’s pro day to watch Justin Fields. Combined with Chris Simms’ speculation that San Francisco may have traded the No. 3 spot for Jones, it prompted others to seriously consider a Jones-to-49ers scenario. Alabama head coach Nick Saban recently joined the Dan Patrick Show, saying Lynch and Shanahan did not ask him anything about his former quarterback, which led the Crimson Tide to a national championship. And it was not because they did not have the opportunity to do so
