The Washington Post added a lengthy correction to a report in early January that said-President Trump

“Two months after the publication of this story, the Secretary of State of Georgia released an audio recording of President Donald Trump’s December call with the investigator of the state’s top election. The recording revealed that The Post Trump’s comments on misquoted the call, based on information provided by a source, ‘the Post said Thursday in a 129-word correction published at the top of the story.
“Trump did not tell the investigator to ‘find the fraud’ or say she would be ‘a national hero’ if she did. Instead, Trump asked the investigator to read the ballots in Fulton County, Ga. to investigate and claim that she would find ‘dishonesty’ ” there. He also told her that she had “the most important job in the country”.
The headline and text of the Post report have been corrected to remove quotes incorrectly attributed to Trump, the newspaper said.
The correction comes days after The Wall Street Journal got word of the December call between Trump and the investigator.
“If the right answer comes out, you will be praised,” Trump told Frances Watson, the chief investigator of the State Department in Georgia, on Thursday.
Watson apparently replied: ‘I can assure you that our team and the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation], that we are only interested in the truth and find the information based on the facts. ”
The original Post report shook the political world a few days before the January 5 election in Georgia, a game that lost both Republican senators, giving Democrats the majority in the upper chamber.
The original Post report was widely discussed by many media outlets, including Hill, who also updated its report on the Trump call.
During his last week in office, Trump repeatedly claimed that he lost the election only because of widespread voter fraud and pointed to places like Fulton County, Ga., As examples of a ‘fraudulent’ election against him.
Georgia election officials rejected the demands after conducting several investigations and audits of the state’s election results in November.
