EXCLUSIVE: The talk canceled its live performances for tomorrow, Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, the deadline learned. Staff were notified today of the interruption coming on the heels of CBS, and began investigating the heated exchange at the top of Wednesday’s episode.
Guests included Elizabeth Vargas (March 15) and Carly Pearce (March 16). The program will currently return to the original version on Wednesday, March 17th.
“We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace,” CBS said in a statement Friday night. ‘All issues related to the Wednesday episode of The talk currently being reviewed. ”
During Wednesday’s episode of The talk, Sharon Osbourne became emotional and belligerent during a conversation with her co-host about how her public support for Piers Morgan is seen following his comments about Meghan Markle. Sheryl Underwood remarked that “while standing with your friend, it appears that you are confirming something he said that is racist or has a safe haven.” Of his most contagious remarks, Morgan said he did not believe Markle’s suicidal thoughts.
“I feel like I’m about to sit in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people consider racist, so that makes me a racist,” Osbourne said before asking Underwood to to be exact about how Morgan was racist. .
After the broadcast, Osbourne tweeted an apology over the exchange with “anyone with color I offended and / or anyone who feels confused or let down by what I said.” She added that she “panicked and was blind [and] become defensive. ”
