Assistance to President Biden hastened the traveling press corps as they called in questions on Tuesday to a non-responding commander in Washington – his 48th day in office without holding a solo press conference.
The incident occurred near the end of a visit by Biden to WS Jenks & Son, a hardware store in the country’s capital, which benefited from its temporary expansion for smaller businesses of the Paycheck Protection Program.
After silently watching Biden deal with shop owners and employees for ten minutes, reporters began calling him in vain.
Immediately thereafter, the 46th president’s enforcers began shouting back, “Come on, push, you have to go,” while the entire crowd of reporters was quickly removed from the scene.
Biden, who stood about 15 to 20 feet from the press bath, did not answer any of the myriad screaming questions, including one about the emerging immigration crisis on the southern border.
Tuesday is not only the 48th day of Biden’s presidency, it’s also the longest a commander – in – chief has made in recent history without holding a solo press conference.
Biden has gone further than its 15 most recent predecessors – 100 years ago – without asking questions of the press in the more official forum.
All 15 former presidents held a solo press conference within 33 days of taking office, according to a CNN analysis of data from the U.S. presidency project.
President Donald Trump held his first solo press conference 27 days after taking office, while President Barack Obama held one in office for 20 days.
Biden, meanwhile, has failed to keep one, and that does not appear to change in the immediate future.
When the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, was pressured during an information session on the matter on Friday, arguing that the president was too busy managing the ‘historic crises’ associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“He answered questions. “I believe the score is almost 40 times,” she said. ‘And I would say that his focus is once again on recovery and relief for the American people, and he looks forward to continuing with all of you and with members of the other members of the media who are not here today. , and we will look forward to it as soon as the press conference is presented. ”
The commander-in-chief spoke briefly to reporters before boarding the presidential plane and took some questions from the press after making public statements about the coronavirus and other matters.
However, he has not only faced reporters since becoming leader of the free world.
A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request from The Post for comment on the president’s refusal to hold a briefing.
