Attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn says he has been contacted by more than 30 women, survivors and witnesses about claims against the couple.
At a news conference Monday, Blackburn reiterated his statement from a press release dated Sunday that he had reached out to prosecutors in Georgia and California to investigate the alleged incidents. Blackburn says it has 11 customers.
The lawyer shared two letters with CNN – one addressed to the Attorney General’s office in Georgia and one to California’s. Six people are referred to between the two letters.
Blackburn said in a press release that there were allegations “of forced intoxication, kidnapping, rape and intimidation in at least two states.” He said the allegations span 15 years and some alleged incidents in the letters allegedly involved the couple; others allegedly involved members of their inner circle.
Harrises’ attorney Steve Sadow made a statement, saying “Clifford (TI) and Tameka Harris strongly deny these unfounded and unfounded allegations.”
“We are confident that if these claims are not thoroughly and fairly investigated, there will be no charges in hand,” the statement said. “The Harrises are begging everyone not to be taken in by these blatant attempts to manipulate the press and abuse the justice system.”
CNN did not speak to any of the alleged victims, nor did they confirm their claims.
It is unclear whether authorities have officially investigated.
Blackburn says he sent letters to state authorities. The two obtained by CNN indicate that one alleged victim was in California; five were residents of Georgia. Alias other than one is referred to.
“We can confirm receipt of the letter,” a spokeswoman for Georgia’s Attorney General’s Office, Chris Carr, said in an email. “That’s all I can share at the moment.”
A representative of Xavier Becerra, Attorney General of California, wrote in an email: “To protect its integrity, we are unable to comment on a possible or ongoing investigation.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said it could not confirm receipt of a letter.
Tameka Harris responded to her official Instagram account by posting a photo that apparently comes from Peterson’s report from TI with Peterson’s two sons.
“Stop … So you want your abuser to train your boys? He was uncle only 2 years ago,” Tiny wrote in the caption.
Peterson, an entrepreneur, said on social media that after she shared her story, several women approached her, claiming that they had been assaulted and abused by the couple.
She shared the allegations on her Instagram stories, which erase herself after 24 hours.
Without mentioning Peterson, Harris said he had evidence that some of the stories shared were devised to “pursue an influence” – intended to attract attention.
“Women who have been victimized deserve to be heard,” Harris, 40, said in the video. “They deserve to feel comfortable and confident. They deserve to be supported.”
On Monday, Blackburn, who also represent Peterson, held a virtual press conference.
In his earlier press release, he said that ‘anyone who has suffered or experienced drug, kidnapping or rape by [the couple] can reach out confidentially “and he repeated it Monday.
Blackburn’s representative for PR, Erica Dumas, told CNN in an email that the 11 alleged victims included ten women.
“Three are non-sexual assault clients,” Dumas wrote. “They accuse TI and Tiny and their team of terrorist threats.”
Blackburn claims the alleged victims do not know each other.
During the press conference, Blackburn briefly described the allegations regarding six “Jane Doe” clients in Georgia and California, which he said include sexual assault, intoxication and kidnapping.
Clifford Harris is from Atlanta and the couple regularly spends time in Los Angeles.
Blackburn told the news conference that his office was “asking various law enforcement agencies to investigate.”
The publication reported that he spoke to several friends and family members of the alleged victims who ‘said they had been told about the episodes’. The Times said in three cases he was reviewing messages and photos supporting the timeline of their claims.
Blackburn said Sadow, the Harrises’ lawyer, had asked for the women’s names and wanted some kind of agreement. “I told them my clients wanted justice,” Blackburn said.
Sadow made a statement to CNN later Monday, saying the allegation that the Harrises wanted to make a deal was “apparently false.”
“I reached out to see if he would share information, as his name was posted on Instagram as Sabrina Peterson’s lawyer.”
“Blackburn has repeatedly refused to provide the names of its customers or any confirmatory or supporting evidence of its unfounded claims,” the statement said. “The Harrises reiterate that they are confident that if no thorough and fair investigation is conducted, no charges will be filed.”
