Rifle-wielding robber holds TV reporter, crew, while filming in Ecuador

A TV reporter and his crew were robbed while filming in Ecuador – with their footage capturing the shocking moment when the armed robber aimed a gun straight at them.

Soccer Reporter Diego Ordinola shared video of the shameless gun-wielding crook jumping Friday afternoon while the DirecTV Sports team recorded outside the Estadio Monumental Stadium in Tarqui, Guayaquil.

“Telephone!” shouted the armed robber, pointing a gun straight at Ordinola and wiping away the microphone he was using.

The thief, wearing a shirt and cap with his face covered by a mask, then raised his weapon to the camera operator, before grabbing a phone from the right of someone’s lap.

The camera of the DirecTV Sports rolled through the whole robbery, and when they chased him after a break, he filmed him being driven away on the back of a motorcycle.

“We can not even work in peace,” Ordinola wrote as he shared the track, saying police “promised to track down these criminals”.

His post was flooded with good wishes, as well as a number of people who used the footage to identify a possible number for the motorcycle used for the escape. It was not immediately clear if there were any arrests or if there were any suspects known.
