Elections in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to be held in a few weeks. However, all eyes are on Bengal, where the Trinamool Congress and BJP have been caught in a tough game. According to reports, elections in Bengal, although TN and Kerala may be in one phase, will be held in several phases.
Meanwhile, some social media users claim that the election schedule for Bengal has been announced. According to them, the election will be held between April 1 and May 17 in seven phases.

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the viral schedule for the upcoming election in Bengal actually mentions voting dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha election in the state. The 2021 election timetable for Bengal has yet to be announced.
The claim is viral on Facebook and Twitter. The archived version can be seen here.
Inaccuracies in claim
A close examination of the claim reveals that although the elections start from April 1, the actual dates start from April 11. Again, at the bottom, it says: ‘The Electoral Commission has announced that the general election in seven phases in India and the final votes will take place on 23 May. ”
This is the first clue that indicates that the schedule is likely to be related to the general election, and not the upcoming general election in Bengal.
Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha constituencies and 294 meeting seats. In the viral schedule, the number of constituencies mentioned is 42. It also makes it clear that it cannot be the schedule of meeting elections.
Using keyword search, we found that the virus scheme was made by copying the schedule for the Lok Sabha election in 2019.
The schedule for the 2019 Lok Sabha election in Bengal, as indicated on the official website of Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, can be seen here. The viral schedule is a brief version of the detailed voting information for the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies on pages 112 and 113 in this official press release. Even the poll dates mentioned here are the same. The only difference is that ‘2019’ has been changed to ‘2021’.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) also called the viral schedule ‘false’ and said the Electoral Commission had not made such an announcement of elections for the Bengali assembly.

The election dates for Bengal could not be found on the Electoral Commission website. It is therefore clear that the schedule for the Lok Sabha election in 2019 is being falsely divided as the dates of 2021 rallies in the state.
