“We encourage all members of the community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to them,” said Craig Barnes, Division Manager Shawnee County Health Department. ‘We are working hard to complete vaccinations of health workers and others as part of Phase 1 so that we can move quickly to Phase 2 individuals when we receive guidance. Although the first doses of vaccine are here, we need to stay alert and continue to wear our masks, wash our hands and look at our distance. ‘
SCHD vaccine administration for Phase 1 individuals continues, with 1,788 doses of vaccine administered as part of its collaboration with GraceMed. In line with current KDHE guidance, we will complete the first phase before moving on to additional phases. The Modern COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses, separated by 28 days. Individuals must receive both doses to be considered fully vaccinated. Current and future scheduling is based on the availability of vaccines and is subject to change based on vaccine availability.
