Graham, as chairman and senior senator, has a security privilege, but many lawmakers, especially in the House, do not. Several legislators have raised concerns that they could not only be confronted orally, but that they could be threatened in a more dramatic way in the coming days and weeks.
The boost to airport security comes days after the Capitol siege was backed by Trump, terrorizing lawmakers and staff and exposing deadly failures to security measures at the complex.
The attempt is the result of a partnership between the Sergeant-at-Arms, the Capitol Police, the Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority and the U.S. Air Marshal, according to the notice.
Members are encouraged to submit their flight route directly to security officers to ensure adequate protection.
