Ninety-eight deaths were reported on Saturday, March 6, by Orange County public health officials, raising the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 4,173.
The data on deaths in the country are compiled from death certificates or collected through the course of case investigations and it can take weeks to process. The most recent death was recorded on 25 February.
The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 269 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, increasing the cumulative total in the country to 247,641 cases since the detection began.
The province also reported 321 patients in local hospitals. On Saturday, 87 patients were listed in the intensive care units, which is less than 18 since the previous report. The total hospital patient is approximately at the same level as in mid-November.
The California Department of Public Health’s Vaccine Information Panel shows that 832,948 doses of vaccines have been distributed in Orange County as of March 5th.
It is estimated that 3,009 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the past 14 days. The average of 14 days was 3,759 on February 28th.
According to the provincial update, 3,104,4730 tests have been given for the coronavirus since it started locally, with at least 11,188 new tests since the previous report.
Of the cumulative 4,173 deaths reported by the virus, 991 were in nursing homes, 471 in emergency facilities, one was a prisoner in the OC and 10 were listed as homeless.
The province’s death rate by age is as follows:
- 85 and older: 32.64% (1,362, higher than 29)
- 75-84: 24.35% (1,016, 20 higher)
- 65-74: 19.34% (807, 18 higher)
- 55-64: 13.8% (576, 20 higher)
- 45-54: 6.45% (269, higher 6)
- 35-44: 2.18% (91, higher 3)
- 25-34: 1.01% (42, higher 2)
- 18-24: 0.22% (9)
- 17 and younger: 0.02% (1)
It is estimated that 236,047 people have recovered from the virus since Saturday. The number of people who recovered is based on the previous cumulative case of 28 days.
The data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials stressed. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
