After the Ashanti and Keyshia Cole Verzuz were shut down twice (first by COVID-19 and later by a bizarre uprising that dominated the news cycle), the Ashanti and Keyshia Cole Verzuz finally took place on January 21st. bops that brought us back to Jansport backpacks and Jersey dresses.
Black Twitter boiled impatiently at 8pm, waiting for the duo to show up for the culture, and when they finally got there, they gave us enough to feast on from behind the scenes stories to vocal riffs.

They brought us back to the sadness we had when custom ringtones were the loudest declaration of love we could send, and bills were something other people worried about when they knocked on their thrones after each other’s hit and told stories about their time above -to the Billboard cards.

Ashanti’s Homegirl Vibes
When Cole was delayed, Ashanti was the friend we all needed and jumped in her suitcase. “I’m the host with the most,” she declares with unparalleled energy. She held a solo performance on her silver throne and held it for KC. “I’m holding sis, this is how we go about love,” she said beaming to the camera. If only we could get the shady chick of the office on all our Zoom calls to do the same.

Reminded that Ashanti joined the game at 13
Ashanti’s debut project may have launched in 2002, but she reminds us that her pen and tone have been around since the late ’90s by playing her choir on Big Pun’s “That’s How We Roll” at the end of the evening. .

When we watched each of the women jump over each other’s “assets”, we missed out on complimenting girls in club bathrooms. When Keyshia described Ashanti as ‘thicker than a funnier’, we almost lost it.
