80 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths reported in North Dakota on Saturday

Fargo’s Cass County reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Minot’s Ward County and Bismarck’s Burleigh County added 15 and 14 new cases, respectively.

Grand Forks County, Mandan’s Morton County and Williston’s Williams County have each filed six new cases.

Adams, Barnes, Bowman, McHenry, Mountrail, Oliver, Pembina, Ramsey, Rolette, Stark and Stutsman have all reported three or fewer new cases.

The new cases are evident from 4,060 tests for a daily positivity rate of 2.5%.

The department also reported two deaths related to COVID-19. The deaths shifted the state’s death toll from the virus to 1428. Of those who tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, 1.5% died.

Active cases continued to decline and dropped to 844 Saturday. Active cases have fallen in triple digits in the past week, the first time that active cases have moved below 1,000 since the end of July.

Burleigh County led the state with 134 active cases on Saturday, a slight increase over the previous week.

Active cases in Cass County have dropped by 37% in the past week, down from 198 to 125.

Ward County and Grand Forks County had 85 and 78 active cases, respectively, on Saturday. Williams County had 68 active cases, while Morton County had 54.

With 66 active businesses per 10,000 inhabitants, Eddy County once again leads the state in active business per capita. Thirteen North Dakota counties had no active cases Saturday.

Thirty-six North Dakotans are currently hospitalized for COVID-19.

Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collected 26,653,558 cases of the virus and 457,762 virus-related deaths. The CDC also reported that 39 million COVID-19 vaccinations were given.
