The family of little Jaslyn Adams said her father was also shot, but survived. In the aftermath of the horror, the family tried to grapple with their loss.

“It’s really emotional for my family now,” said Jaslyn’s aunt, Tawny McMullen.

McMullen’s words were tearful and painful as she remembered the 7 – year – old as funny and joyful.

‘She was just the sweet and outgoing; really talkative; really lovely, ”McMullen said.

The family spoke from outside Stroger Hospital in Cook County, where the girl died.

A Chicago police officer rushed her about two miles to where she was found in a bullet-driven car – in a McDonald’s driveway in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road in Kedzi Avenue.

At least 30 casings of the shell surrounded the vehicle after the shooting at 4:18 p.m. The tinted windows on the side were blown out.

Bullet holes were also left in the frame and in the rear window.

Investigators said Jaslyn was hit several times around her body. According to family, her father, Jontae Adams (29), was also hit.

Chicago police said the 29-year-old was shot in the upper body. He was also taken to Stroger Hospital in Cook County, where he was reported in a serious condition, and is expected to survive.
