According to the NBC branch in Houston, a 6-year-old girl in Texas was fatally shot by a family member after an argument over spilled water.
Police in Pasadena, a city southeast of Houston, said officers responded to reports of a shooting in an apartment complex around 11:30 a.m. Friday, KPRC reported. A male relative of Laurionne Walker, 6, shot the girl several times, police said.
“I have no more words now,” Laurionne’s grandmother told the news station. “My granddaughter was another baby. She was shot twice in the chest this morning.”
Laurionne was taken to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, KPRC reported.
According to police, the suspect is now in custody. Details about the person, including his name and the charges against him, were not disclosed.
This is the second time that Laurionne’s family has been hit by a tragedy this week, reports KPRC. Her mother was the aunt of three children who died Sunday night in an unrelated car accident in Spring, Texas. The mother of the three children also died in the wreckage, which involved a suspected drunk driver.
