6 suspected overdose deaths due to overdose police

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. Authorities in Chesterfield County issued a warning on Saturday night after officers were called in the past 72 hours after several suspected deaths due to overdose.

“At this stage, the police are aware of six deaths due to overdose,” said lt. Tim Kehoe and the Chesterfield Police Special Investigations Division said.

Kehoe said the high number of overdoses in a short period of time probably means that “illegal or prescription drugs sold or used are extremely potent and are likely to cause an overdose.”

As a result, officials urged anyone who is with a person who overdoses to call 911 immediately.

“Apply Narcan / Naloxone if you have access to it,” advises Kehoe. “If you or someone you know needs Narcan, call 804-717-6169. The Chesterfield County Opioid Outreach Coordinator can provide it for free.”
